Mardi Gras
The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras has grown from a local gay pride event to being arguably the most spectacular gay and lesbian event in the world. Just recently Conde Nast listed this event amongst the 10 most spectacular costume events. Right up there with Venice and Rio. It promises to be one of the biggest and best yet. There will be a month of high quality arts, sporting and social events culminating in the world famous Parade and Party. |

Golden Slipper Carnival
The STC Golden Slipper is an Australian Thoroughbred horse race for two year old horses held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney run over 1200 metres on turf at set weights. It is the premier two year old race in Australia and is the world's richest race for two-year-old thoroughbreds. The race is held on the Saturday before Good Friday in conjunction with a series of races known as the Golden Slipper Carnival. Prize money in 2006 was AUD$3.0 million. |
