New Zealand Things to See & Do

When travelling to New Zealand there is some main places that you just have to visit. In the North Island, Auckland is a must and has plenty of things to see and do including going up the Sky Tower, bungy jumping off of the harbour bridge or the Sky Tower, cruises along the port and visiting the Auckland Museum. A good tour around the Bay of Islands is a must for those visiting the North Island, with its beautiful scenery it’s an area loved by most.

In the South Island the Marlborough area is perfect if wine tasting is what you want and the Marlborough Sounds is a great place for kayaking, sailing, diving and fishing. Christchurch is one of the major cities in the South Island and has an abundance of things to do and see. A popular attraction for both locals and tourists is Christchurch Town Centre where there are plenty of markets and stalls for shopping as well as the Art Gallery.

Just outside of Christchurch is Hamner Thermal Pools and Spa as well as one of the popular ski fields in the South Island is Mount Hutt or of course Queenstown is a must for those travelling to New Zealand for skiing. Queenstown is the Adventure Capital of the World and is known for its skiing, Shotover Jet, white water rafting, bungy jumping, skydiving, skyrail and of course its beautiful scenery.

Lake Wanaka and the Frans Josef and Fox Glaciers are all spectacular natural phenomena which are worth seeing when in the South Island. In Dunedin there is also plenty to see with the top places for tourists to visit being Larnach Castle and Cadbury World. And the last place in the South Island that is a definite must to visit is the beautiful Milford Sound which is loved by everyone who visits.

Wellington

 

Wellington, the capital of New Zealand should be on everyone’s list and is also a perfect place to travel over to the South Island on a boat via the Cook Straight. As well as plenty of nature walks, gardens and sanctuaries Wellington also offers the best museum in New Zealand – Te Papa.
