Racing at speeds close to 300 kilometers per hour around a 4.47km street circuit through Surfers Paradise high rises, next to the world's greatest coastline, in front of hundreds of thousands of excited spectators – that's powerful!

The annual Australian Surf Life Saving Championships are one of the world's most exciting sporting events, with over 8500 competitors from Australia and international lifesaving countries participating each year. There are upwards of 500 officials that facilitate the championships. The championships are nationally televised and have become a pinnacle event on the Australian sporting calendar.

Thousands of eager participants will lace up to take part in the 29th running of Australia's premier marathon the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. The Broadwater is sparkle in the background and the distant hi-rises of Surfer Paradise will beckon as the started counts down. The race attracts elite athletes, recreational enthusiasts and people of all ages and fitness levels.

Schoolies Week is a three week graduation festival celebrated by Year 12 school leavers from all around Australia. It takes place after the Year 12 Leaving Certificate between mid-November and mid-December. Although the event is predominately held on the Gold Coast there are alternative destinations like Byron Bay, Airlie Beach, Sunshine Coast and Magnetic Island.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games was previously known as the Asia PacificMasters Games and has been held on the Gold Coast every two years since 1998. In 2006 the Pan Pacific Masters Games will be the largest multi-sport international master's event in Australia and New Zealand. An anticipated 10,000 participants from all over the world will compete in more than 40 sports at 35 venues across the Gold Coast.

The 19th annual event builds on its reputation as a leading Asia Pacific show where the marine business does business. Attracting more than 49,000 visitors, more than 365 boats and craft on water and a further 457 boats in pavilion and hard stand exhibits confirm the Show's status as the largest on-water display ever seen at an Australian boat show.

Horse Racing and Thoroughbred Sales go hand in hand at Magic Millions.The glamorous Gold Coast is the venue for the Magic Millions Yearling Sales and ten days of Carnival and society events surrounding the Magic Millions raceday. Two One Million dollar races are the highlight of the raceday. The Magic Millions Sales and raceday has established its reputation on the international scene, and has fast become a "must be there" event worldwide.
